Federal government approves 20% rise in university stipends

The federal cabinet approved a 20 per cent increase in monthly stipends for postgraduate scholarship holders, the first revision in four years.

The education ministry said the increase would take effect from the next disbursement cycle and would cover roughly 61,000 students across public-sector universities.

University administrators welcomed the move but warned that delays in the release of block grants remain the larger constraint on research funding.
